Senior Robotics Scientist/Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Robotics Scientist/Engineer with a strong theoretical foundation in core robotics concepts to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of innovative robotic solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging problems, advance the state-of-the-art in robotics, and make a real-world impact.

About the Role:
As a Robotics Scientist/Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and implementation of advanced robotic systems. You will be involved in all phases of the development lifecycle, from conceptualization and research to prototyping, testing, and deployment.  This position requires a deep understanding of fundamental robotics principles, including kinematics, dynamics, control theory, perception, and mechatronics, as well as hands-on experience with robotic hardware and software.

  • Responsibilities:

    • Research & Development: Investigate and evaluate state-of-the-art robotics technologies and contribute to the development of novel algorithms and methodologies.

    • System Design & Modeling: Design and model complex mechatronic systems, including robot manipulators, mobile robots, and other automated systems. This includes a strong focus on mechatronics system modeling and actuator systems.

    • Kinematics & Dynamics: Analyze and model the kinematics and dynamics of robotic systems, developing control strategies for precise and efficient motion.

    • Control Systems: Design and implement robust and adaptive control algorithms for robot manipulation, navigation, and interaction with the environment.

    • Perception & Sensor Fusion: Develop and integrate perception systems using various sensors (e.g., cameras, lidar, IMUs) and implement sensor fusion algorithms for environment understanding and object recognition.

    • Software Development: Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code for robot control, perception, and planning in languages like Python, C++, and potentially others. Experience with ROS is highly valued.

    • Hardware Integration: Integrate and test various robotic hardware components, including actuators, sensors, controllers, and communication interfaces.

    • Testing & Validation: Design and execute experiments to validate the performance of robotic systems and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.

    • Collaboration & Communication: Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, communicating technical concepts clearly and concisely.

  • Qualifications:

    • Education: Master's or Ph.D. degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a focus on robotics. (Exceptional Bachelor's degree candidates with extensive relevant experience will also be considered.)

    • Core Robotics Expertise: Deep understanding of fundamental robotics concepts, including:

    1. Kinematics: Forward and inverse kinematics, Jacobian analysis, motion planning.

    2. Dynamics: Lagrangian and Newtonian mechanics, equations of motion, dynamic modeling.

    3. Control Theory: Classical and modern control techniques, feedback control, PID control, adaptive control.

    4. Perception: Computer vision, sensor fusion, object recognition, SLAM.

    5. Mechatronics: Mechatronics system modeling, actuator systems (electric, hydraulic, pneumatic), sensor integration, embedded systems.

    • Programming Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, C++, MATLAB). Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) is highly desirable.

    • Mathematical Skills: Strong mathematical background, including linear algebra, calculus, differential equations, and probability.

    • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

    • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with specific robotics platforms (e.g., mobile manipulators, drones, industrial robots).

    • Experience with machine learning and AI techniques applied to robotics.

    • Publications or research experience in robotics.

    • Experience with real-time control systems and embedded programming.

  • Benefits:

    • Be part of a dynamic and innovative team at the forefront of robotics technology.

    • Work on challenging and impactful projects that have the potential to revolutionize industries.

    • Collaborate with leading experts in the field.

    • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
